Buy half a dozen or more

Analog multimeters are becoming harder and harder to find. The resolution of digital counters with lots of digits is fun, but if you're trying to set the circuit to the minimum or maximum value, you need analog ones. Buy a few. They are cheap and may disappear in a few years.

not as advertised. wanted 500mA model (black)

I have a couple of meters that can measure 250mA. I chose this one because it is advertised as a 500mA fuse. The picture (black model) clearly shows 500 mA. It's all wrong. I'm lucky, I'm not in a hurry with the time. Now I find a few other reviews complaining that they come out black instead of the yellow they wanted. they didn't say why they wanted a yellow one. The yellow itself would be fine if it measured up to 500mA.

Well, if less than ten dollars

This is a very simple and inexpensive multimeter. Well, if it costs less than ten dollars. The biggest problem is that DCV ranges are 10, 250 and 500. That makes it almost useless for automotive work. My main DVOM broke yesterday so I used that instead when installing the alternator. With this I was not able to read real battery voltage and alternator voltage. While we're talking, I order another meter (a Mastech digital multimeter, which is well made and has a good range of features - I have…

Old School Rules! for Tester

Unlike the more expensive digital device I've bought (and never used), this analog meter is so easy! Seriously guys. Sometimes you don't always need a fancy update. Sometimes less really is more. You don't have to mess with complicated menus or buttons. Spin the dial and bam you're ready for electron detection :) This is a fantastic gauge that gets the job done. The included manual also explains very well when and how to use it. I have faith in this tool. Like and bright color; easily…

Good for tool box

I bought this gauge to accompany my boat and truck tool box for basic on site electrical diagnostics. The Darsonval moving-coil meter is a throwback to the "analogue" days and has the advantage of being able to quickly identify small changes in measurement. Much more information than digital meters, even at their better sample rates. Minor issues: I had to adjust the meter's "zero" setting for its left side, resting position, and I used a new Varta AA alkaline cell instead of the cheap Chinese…

Steal for the price, does what it takes!

Much better than expected. If you need a new set of test leads, you can throw away the meter and use the test leads and still have a head start. This requires 1 AAA battery, which is included in the scope of delivery. As is often the case, the best solution might be to ditch the included Chinese battery in favor of a decent one, like I did, but even so, the ohmmeter part isn't that great, being only rated at 1.5V and not supplied with one is regular. normal 3v to 9v. Don't expect great results…

Very unprecise. for multitester

Not very accurate. The first one I had on the ohm scale didn't reset and I ordered a replacement but the replacement was even worse and I ended up keeping the first and sending the second back. I then tried using it in my car and it's almost useless for 12 volts as the choice is either 10 or 250 volts; at 250 the needle barely moves and since I just wanted to confirm the tension I used it on a 10 point scale and tied the arrow; Not sure how bad it is for the meter but it was the only practical…
