I'm sure people say they don't stick. Maybe the tree wasn't prepared. My experience is that this works great. Heat the iron, place the strip, iron it, and then secure it to the surface with a block of wood. Sometimes at the very edge it doesn't stick the first time, but I go over it with a second pass, right after that with my little piece of wood, and it sticks really well. Trimming is pretty easy. I don't use the crop tool. Either a office knife or light passages with a plane. I'm sure a crop tool will give me more consistent cuts. The sand is great! I painted and stained them. Works great with both. It is varnished slightly differently than the rest of the plywood. Not so much a different color as a more even finish than plywood staining. Since I make parts, I notice it. But everyone else can't tell the difference.
