There was an area between me and my neighbor where the roots of the trees were exposed to the ground surface because of a large tree that wasn't growing grass - it's located on the border of ours courtyards and serves as a passage between our houses. I expanded the flower bed by raising the area with landscape tiles and covering it with mulch. I wanted to place steps to indicate that this is actually a walkway. Slate was an original idea, but too expensive. Research drew my attention to them. Read the reviews, some of them were --- not that easy to install, didn't attach well, sagged when you stepped on it. Still gave them a chance. Since they should be in the mulch, I laid them down and rocked back and forth until the blocked webbing underneath filled with mulch. They don't move or sag and stay in place, providing clean access to both of our properties.
