The gate we received is for a specific passage, from 30 to 32.7 inches. Before buying, make sure you measure and make sure the hole is fairly square (same width top and bottom). Installation is pretty easy, you install four grip pads for each corner and then twist them out to tighten. They include a plastic ramp for a square metal slat at the bottom to perhaps move small wheeled objects over the sill. I would recommend maybe adding wood to the sides if you plan to install this somewhere with drywall. It takes a lot of horizontal pressure to stay in place, and a piece of drywall can easily snap, even with large rubber pads. It has standard gate materials and was easy to install. Plastic gate latches work, and while unreliable, they have to give a little to open and close the gate.
