"The attached picture shows the cap with and without the thin plastic cap" What I liked about this reel is the locking feature and the fact that you don't have to align the handle like mine old Milwaukee drum to close it. However, there is a big problem. There is a thin piece of plastic on the top of the roller that covers the felt filter used to prevent the chalk from spurting out. Well if you ever break your line and wrap it all the way down you will most likely damage the plastic trying to pull it out when trying to thread the line back through the cap. Even if it is simply bent, skipping the chalk and pouring out a large amount of chalk is enough. If you try to use it without the plastic piece, your felt will come loose when you rewind the string and jam the string. Please sell a replacement for this horrible little part. I have a good spool and can't use it to prevent the chalk from spilling all over the place. It's not even worth it. This is my second and last Tajima
