Review on Southwire 10037K Electrical Test Kit: Multimeter, πŸ”Œ Voltage Detector, Outlet Tester, Test Leads & Batteries Included by Roger Alexander

Two sets of lemons in a row?

I ordered a Southwire kit because I missed placing my other brand kit at the site. Tested the Southwire kit on day one. The multimeter worked as expected, the spark plug tester worked as expected, the voltage tester worked as expected. for a few minutes. Then it started giving me random false alarms telling me there was voltage on the copper wire and I knew it couldn't be hot because it wasn't connected to anything. I tested this theory by placing my fingers on a bare "hot" copper wire while the voltage tester was flashing red. (Don't try this at home) but unfortunately I was right, there is no voltage although the voltage tester said there is. Tried resetting batteries, tried new batteries, same problem with voltage tester. I sent it back and received a new set. I tested the 2nd set multimeter on the battery that came in the package, it read 0 volts, but when I put the batteries in the voltmeter, the voltmeter glowed, so the battery was fine. I tested the outlets on two different circuits and got silly voltages that were way too low. I checked that the wires are connected to the multimeter itself. I unplugged it and plugged it back in. I did not test other devices with my second set. I have used many multimeters throughout my life. Check my photos, am I doing something wrong? After the second lemon I send it back and use a different brand.
