I also agree with other reviewers. I was an avid fan of Philips DVDs until I bought the last batch of three spindles. Half of them can't complete the recording, and most of them make several of my DVD players grunt, crackle, and click when trying to find a title I don't recognize. I've tried everything: different burners, restarting the system before each burning. It became pretty clear to me that Philips had gone from being a reliable manufacturer to a manufacturer that turned out to be junk. Now I'm looking for a new batch of spindles and will buy another brand. UPDATE: I have purchased several Verbatim blanks. and ALL my problems disappeared immediately. Looks like I shouldn't have bought a new DVD burner after all. The problems were unique to Philips drives and about 70% of them failed on the last two spindles. A lot of time and a lot of money spent. Never again. Lower my star rating to the lowest possible. It's sad when an OEM takes immortal customer loyalty and then immediately turns that into immortal contempt. Philips, you almost lost me forever. And unfortunately that goes for all of your other products as well (there was a time when I thought you had a quality ethic, but sadly I don't think so).
