Good Collection: Power Tool Parts & Accessories

First, I love PowerTec. I have bought many of their products and they are great. I am building my own dust extraction system for my workshop and as I have never done this before I thought this package would be good. I like explosive goals. You can see in my photo that I installed them and they are wall mounted in my workshop. Little did I know that Y-connectors and 45 degree elbows only fit 2 1/2" flexible hose. The instructions show how to connect everything with a flexible hose to create a dust collection system. I don't think this is a good idea as the inside of the flexible hose is not flat. It's raised where the wire is and I don't think that's conducive to good airflow. What makes this a good deal are the 20 key hose clamps, as well as the shock absorbers. You could ditch the Y connectors and 45 degree elbows and drop the price a few bucks and that would be a lot. Since I have a small shop I will be using 2" PVC for the main vacuum line and I have purchased PVC Y fittings and 45 degree elbows for my drops. I will be using flexible hose to make my 45 degree elbows to connect to the blast flaps and then from the blast flaps to my plumbing tools. In my other photo you can see the shop vacuum that I will be using with this system. I'll be fitting everything in tomorrow. Looking forward to it! Update: I've assembled the vacuum system and installed. I strongly recommend using 2" PVC pipes and Y-fittings. It came together so easily. I didn't glue it in case I want to make changes in the future. I used rubberized tape to seal all the connections and it works great. I used pipe clamps to attach it to the wall and it's solid! I've added more photos of my finished product. The first drop you see after a closed vacuum is an idea I'll save for later. I'm thinking of adding a floor cleaner so when I sweep the shop I can sweep it before I sweep the floor and it gets sucked into the vacuum. I'd rather sweep the shop floor than vacuum it. At the end of the line you can see the hose holder I made. It has 20 feet of 2 1/2" flexible hose. I was worried the suction would drop, but that's ok. It gets me almost anywhere in my shop.
