Split leather available. With the price of leather. I buy a leather saddle skirt that is thicker than I really need. This allows me to make leather thinner for belts etc. The gap width is 6 inches and needs to be fixed really securely. I split 4" and 5" wide cartridge belts quickly and accurately. Try this with a small skiver. The clerk at my local leather shop told me their cleaver wasn't very good for that. They also cost about 500.00. At the price I decided to risk it. I saved over 300.00. Really good deal. That works great. No instructions but I had mounting screws. I would suggest using a skin flap and playing around with it to learn its settings. This splitter is almost identical to the more expensive one. The only difference I see is the wooden handle. If you really need to split leather I would recommend it for smaller and narrower splits. A little more expensive but worth it.
