Review on πŸ—„οΈ Promark Capacity Extension Drawer with Bearing by Justin Guldin

VERY IMPORTANT! Installation problem and FIX!

16" soft-close full extension slides. These Promark guides are a damn good deal. Squareness of structure. But once set up properly, they're GREAT for the money. I built the dresser, built it up which I installed them and ensured squareness by making the drawers 1-1/16" lower to fit the required 1" clearance plus 1/16" play. The problem with the soft-latch Mechanism I had was that on some drawers the first time it was closed the latch pin (drawer side) would snap into the rotating C-clamp (frame side) but the side rail of the drawer when pulled wobbled out to one side or the other causing the pin to snap bypass the C-Clamp At this point, the drawer almost completely closed, but the soft-close function didn't work because the C-Clip stayed in the closed position, where the open area "C” p was pointing down and not horizontal. In this scenario, the pin on the side of the drawer cannot engage the C-clamp to activate the soft-close mechanism. Correction can be difficult without removing the entire track when used on a closet. Since my dresser has a removable back panel, I had access to the back of the drawer slide. Viewing the mechanism from the back, I was able to close the drawer until the pin was resting on the C-clamp, and then, with the closing force back, use a flathead screwdriver to pry the side of the drawer away from the frame, exposing the pin intervention came. "C" and press this "C" when you release the screwdriver. Padding where needed is critical to ensure the pin no longer bypasses the C-clamp. My drawers are now working as intended and all of the soft close mechanisms have survived the initial accidental abuse they were subjected to during troubleshooting. I only took off one star because this soft close actuator is delicate. They are not as forgiving as their non-soft close versions as they are VERY EASY to install. The pin on these can be longer and/or the c-clip thicker to allow proper function when the frame/drawer is not perfectly square. All this to say that I would not hesitate to buy these guides again for my next build, which will be a full dresser.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • No automation
