Before installing a new one, connect the wiring harness and see if it works. Lay it on its back and turn on the switch. It will turn. If it doesn't turn, it's probably the relay behind the glove box. Also, I checked the fuses first before removing the old fan. There is no point in replacing the fan if the problem is in the fuse. There are two fuses to check.
