When reviewing the product, I saw complaints that the humidifier produces white dust due to salts in tap water getting on everything. To avoid this I bought a 4 liter water still and it's been working great so far. I work remotely and refilling the burner and humidifier is part of my ritual. If you don't mind carrying a gallon of water back and forth 2-3 times a day and I don't, then it works great. The humidifier increased my humidity from 26% to 45%. My guitars dried up, broke and went out of tune in the winter. They are much happier when an effective humidifier is running in the house. I used to wake up with a dry mouth and nasal passages, and a humidifier helped but didn't completely eliminate it. If it works as well as before, I'll be happy. So the situation so far is very good. The burner uses 750 watts and the humidifier uses 50 watts. The still condenses the steam into water using a fan running through the coils, so the house is heated a little too, so the energy used to boil the water isn't a total loss.
