Review on ๐Ÿ‹๏ธ Polar T31 Coded Chest Transmitter with Elastic Strap by Rachel Smith

Revainrating 4 out of 5

but i replaced it following the youtube video and it worked fine. It took me a while to get it at first.

About 8 years ago I bought my first heart rate monitor and a Polar watch. The watch and chest strap lasted about 3 years and then I stopped using them and relied on how I was feeling to control my workouts. Recently I decided to use it again to improve the effectiveness of my training. I was able to replace a dead watch battery a few years ago, but the chest strap was a lot trickier - it didn't need to be replaced, but I replaced it after a YouTube video and it worked fine. It took a while to read it first, but then everything was fine. I thought I'd buy a new one so it would work better. Well, my casually assembled 8+ year old chest strap performs significantly better than the one I just bought for $40. Almost half of my workout actually consists of reading my heart rate and once it does it keeps going back to "00" and half of my calories and heart rate doesn't even show for half of my workout! I'm giving it 4 stars because my old original works fine (even after tearing it apart and somehow re-gluing it). Maybe the one I recently ordered is just defective, but that seems to be a common theme across most reviews. You have to do things differently these days.

Pros
  • Heart rate monitor
Cons
  • Big and bulky
