It works well for its intended purpose - I use it with Black + Decker air conditioner

While something like this is more functional than beautiful it serves its intended purpose well. In my sliding door it stays in place even when I open the slider as there are nice grooves at the top and bottom that keep the piece in place. easy to install and can also be slightly compressed for more convenient storage. The plastic seems even more durable than the one that came with my Black + Decker portable air conditioner, although it arrived from the factory with a few black dings and scratches, minor complaints, although this shouldn't be perfect as it is bit of a DIY thing anyway.
