Ok I don't know if I should give it stars because it worked fine while it lasted. When I received it, I noticed that after a week of use, the cord loosened up a bit. Since I'm the only one who used it, I didn't mind plugging it in every time I used it. And to be honest, when I bought it I worked two jobs and didn't have time to deal with returns. So, it's been a year now (out of warranty of course) that it was working fine until this morning I turned on the water, turned it on as usual and walked a few steps to my room to get my shoes. Luckily my eldest son was standing in the kitchen door when he heard sparks and saw the kettle on fire. If he wasn't there to see it, I wouldn't be fine because I'm always alone when using this kettle. So if you order this and the cable is defective, take the time to return it. Now I don't have a kettle anymore and have to get a new one later, now I do it the old fashioned way in the stove. So when you order, be sure to stay in the kitchen just to keep an eye on them. I liked how quickly the water boiled ❤️
