We bought this saddle hoping to help an elderly friend who is now having trouble lifting heavy western and australian trail saddles. We put it on her horse, a medium sized, medium sized trail horse, and she used a mounting block to mount it. The saddle didn't feel secure when walking slowly on level ground. As she dismounted, the saddle slipped with her for nearly a quarter turn, and the only way to fix it was to remove the horse's girth and girth to adjust it back to center back. This is a reasonably withered horse and is by no means a heavy, broad, round horse. We would worry about our friend getting hurt or killed on the trail if the horse takes a wrong step, stumbles or even shakes his body.
