TIME-SERT is much better than Helicoil. More installation effort, but worth it. I've had way too many spiral coils that break or come loose easily. Since you're already recutting the hole, why risk doing it a second time or, worse, damaging it even more. Get it right with a time certificate and never worry again. Make sure the notch is cut deep enough if a flush fit is required, and make sure the thread is deep enough and your certificate short enough for a blind hole. Multiple lengths are available so measure twice. A flat certificate header once installed is definitely no fun, so it's best to measure it and get it right. I lubricate the entire certificate so it catches oil on the threads to reduce the chance of corrosion on the road. Remember, these things don't come out, so make sure you really want them there!
