Man, you get a lot for a more than reasonable price. Many extras and functions. Lightweight - they're some sort of ABS/polymer with a rubber coating. The large focus knob is convenient to use. The lens caps and neck strap really complete this set. I have had several other compact designs, this roof prism set is a step up. These are NOT night vision goggles, they are $40. What they have is surprisingly good light transmission. The larger the objective lens, the greater the light transmission. For me the right size and magnification for exploring possible hunting grounds and the set suits my rifle optics. These are pretty good sport binoculars, although 12x might be a bit much for a novice ornithologist, try 8-10x. The higher the magnification, the narrower the field of view, and higher magnification can sometimes increase hand tremors. This set is suitable for a tripod but for me personally this set is a bit small but I have been using binoculars for decades. I would say choose 20x50 or more. At this magnification and lens size, this is a great set for general and sporting use. Maybe too much for an opera house, but I don't spend much time there. All in all, this is a great option if you're upgrading older generation compact folders and don't want to go broke. If this is your first set, then maybe a smaller 8-10x raise, but 12x raises are good. I gave him 5 stars. all across the board, if night vision/low light vision isn't what you're looking for, get a set with larger lenses and lower magnification, or buy night vision goggles.
