Review on TableCraft Chrome πŸ§€ Plated Stainless Steel Cheese Slicer by Robert Lowry

Revainrating 2 out of 5

New: very poor reliability // Old: a bit bulky

Updated rating: I took one star off the original rating due to a new purchase. I bought one of these a few years ago and ended up giving it to my ex roommates - it still works great. But when I tried to find a replacement for mine again this year, it broke within a month. I changed it and _this_ replacement broke on the first day. As with other recent reviewers, two slicers I received in 2020 had broken or disconnected wires and I was unable to repair them. I ended up buying a similar model from a different manufacturer. First review: This food slicer is very heavy. The extra weight certainly gives it a solid feel, but I can't comment on durability after only owning it for a few months. (My previous slicer was over forty years old, so I have high hopes for it!) On the other hand, the ability to adjust the cutting width is very handy, and it has been washed in the dishwasher several times with no apparent problems. The wire is also a lot thicker than the slicers I've used before and easily placed inside the bindings. This makes some soft cheeses difficult to cut cleanly as small bits will collect on the wire itself, and the position of the wire means you have to snip the edge of the counter or the bottom of the disc will snap off. every time. Not a bad product overall, but a little more attention to the basics would be nice.
