This is a great concept and probably still a fair price just for the housing, small hook set and other items in the kit but the thread used is not suitable for tatting. It's not mercerized, which means it's "fuzzy" and has a lot of friction when you try to tighten it. I ended up breaking the thread before it completely covered the circle. It's still not a bad buy, but be sure to get some mercerized yarn. I would also recommend getting the Handy Hands Aerlit/Dreamlit shuttles with spare spools if you're ready to buy more shuttles :)
