My pair of "Cyber Monday Special" studio lights have arrived. The lights seem solid enough for the money, providing enough light for portraits or video if you bump the ISO up a little over the base. However, there is "misleading" (or fraudulent) information in the specifications. The specifications of this "3200W dual light system" consist of two 7 lamp heads feeding 14x45W of 1500 lumen CFL bulbs. Since this means it only draws 630 watts of power, perhaps they mean they produce light equivalent to 3200 watts of incandescent light? nope! A 100W incandescent lamp produces 1600 lumens per meter. They say each bulb only puts out 1500 (and I believe them), meaning these things only put out the equivalent of about 1312.5 watts (less than half of what they advertise). Good light but not enough light. Either they have a supplier who is cheating them or they are cheating customers but it is not as advertised.
