Review on Denso 221 3124 Radiator by James Auzenne

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Be cool, man, be cool.

I bought this Denso radiator 221-3124 for my 2006 Toyota 4Runner V8 with about 320,000 miles on it. My original had very small leaks in the bottom corners that I noticed on a scheduled oil change. Oddly enough, instead of getting annoyed that I had a slightly leaking radiator, I was thrilled to be able to turn a couple of wrenches. The best price I could find for a Toyota OEM radiator was $400 online. I know Denso is Toyota's OEM so I wasn't worried about the quality of this radiator. The heatsink arrived in good condition in a double box with cardboard sheets over the cooling fins for extra protection. Surprises. When replacing the radiator, I also took the opportunity to replace the upper (Toyota 16571-50200, radiator hose) and lower (Lexus 16572-50190, radiator hose) radiator hoses, the radiator cap (Toyota 16401-6A140 radiator cap) and the clamps (CTB- Swivel Clamp) 50ST FK Steel Constant Tension Band Clamp Tubing OD 1-31/32" (10-pack)). The mounting holes, the position of the screws, everything matched the new heatsink perfectly. You'll need to reuse the rubber mounting hardware from your old radiator for the new one, so make sure you don't do anything crazy with it to destroy it.

Pros
  • Durable finish
Cons
  • Damaged
