They were very easy to install. I bought our twin girls 20″ Specialized Hot Rock bikes with Revo Grip rear derailleurs, and even after several "practices” on a bike stand, they haven't loosened up enough to be rideable without a real fight and red palms. . Upon installation, I noticed that these Shimano derailleurs fit perfectly on the inside of the separate brake lever, so I had to loosen the lever, remove it from the stem, slide the derailleur back into place, and then reattach the brake lever. To remove (and reattach) the rubber grips, I used my air compressor with a priming nozzle to blow air into the hole at the end of the rubber grip while I closed the opposite hole at the end of the grip with my finger (easier with a helper). This expands the rubber grip enough that it can either be released from the handlebars immediately or gradually moved during the airflow (apologies to seasoned folks who already know this trick). be long enough that I reused the existing scabbard. With the old shifters in 7th gear and the derailleur on the smallest sprocket, I loosened the Alan cable clamp bolt. The cable slipped right out of the sheath and I was able to put in a new one as the exposed cable has a soldered lug to prevent wear. After I installed the derailleur and tightened it in the 7th gear position, I reattached the end of the cable to the clamp on the derailleur. This cable is very long and will need to be shortened after checking the final settings. It is best to use wire cutters as side cutters are more likely to bend and wear out the ends. Attach and crimp the cable ends (supplied with the switches). I just needed the right derailleur as these bikes are 1x7. They work MUCH better than the shifter. The only downside I've seen so far is that when shifting from 1 to 7, the lever gradually moves away from the crank with each click, which can be difficult to achieve with small hands. This could be a problem. The jury hasn't made a decision on that yet, but 1 through 7 is just a click on the blue thumb. If this lengthy review describes your situation then I would highly recommend it as the installation was surprisingly easy and with one caveat is a massive improvement over the grab switches.
