Review on Freud Finish Crosscut Blade LU88R010 by Gabriel Tomato

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Amazingly strong, will cut even the toughest woods on a Ryobi table saw

I'm replacing stair treads with a 5/4" to 12" solid Ipe (Brazilian walnut). The Ipe-Janke hardness is 15,620 N (3,510 lbf). In comparison, Red Oak is about three times as heavy at 1,220 lbf (5,430 N). Ipe wood is literally stronger than nails. It sinks in the water, weighs a ton but looks beautiful and can withstand the heaviest of foot traffic. And I needed a saw blade for cutting boards to length. I have a working Ryobi table saw with a 1.5hp motor. Even with a fairly handheld saw, this blade gave me clean, smooth cuts with little drag every time. It far exceeded my expectations for edge retention against such strong hardwood. I see no slowing of the blade, no burns or chipping while I cover the cuts with some tape. Conclusion: I cannot recommend this blade enough. It's tougher than stiff, razor sharp out of the box, fits perfectly, cuts buttery smooth, and stands up to some of the toughest woods I've ever worked with.
