I have a 2013 Lexus GS350 F Sport AWD. Recently, about 2 weeks ago, my driver's door started having locking/unlocking issues. Whether I use the key fob or touch the doorknob, the locking mechanism does not work properly. The vehicle will beep (4 to 6 beeps). I googled this question and found out that this is a common problem between Toyota and Lexus. It turned out to be a problem with the door lock. I called my local Lexus dealer and explained the problem and the steps I took to lock and unlock the car. I figured they would fix it for free as it seems to be a common manufacturer issue. I was very disappointed when the dealer told me I would have to pay for this repair and that it would be very expensive. They quoted me $149 an hour for labor plus parts, averaging $800+ for each door lock actuator. It seemed ridiculous to me, so I keep searching the internet for instructions on how to do it myself. I found out that the problem is most likely related to a faulty door lock motor. After further research, I found that replacing the drive motor wasn't easy, but I decided to do it anyway. In addition, the price of an actuator is less than $15. I ordered this item from Surplus Deal USA a few days ago and it arrived quickly and in perfect condition on a Saturday when I had a few hours off. I was watching a youtube video while working on an executive motor replacement. It took longer than I thought, only about 3 hours, but I took my time removing the door panel, taking photos, opening the disc drive and reinstalling everything the way it was before. I had a bit of trouble snapping the door panel into place, but YouTube came to the rescue. I am happy to report that everything is back to normal. My door lock works as it should with no glitches or issues. Now I don't have to worry about leaving the car unlocked. To be honest I had my doubts about buying this item. I had almost no confidence that it would work. Also, I wasn't sure if I had the skills or tools to install it. But I'm glad I did. There is something nice about solving what has proven to be a very annoying problem with your own hands. Not to mention I didn't have to pay the dealer hundreds of dollars to fix an issue that should have been recalled. Thank you Surplus Deal USA! You have another happy customer.
