Review on High Dynamic Range BenQ PD2700U Professional Monitor with Anti Glare Screen - 3840x2160 HD by Black Castillo

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Easy setup, decent quality display with flaws.

OVERVIEW A good everyday monitor for all visual creatives who need decent picture quality with 4K capabilities. I liked the solid construction, easy height adjustment. Not the best color accuracy (Delta E < 3) and contrast/detail in tonal ranges. Not the brightest monitor. WHY DID I BUY? I'm a full-time commercial photographer and filmmaker. Display quality and color accuracy are what I look for in my monitors. I only bought this monitor for work to make my screen bigger when editing compared to the 16 inch screen on my Macbook Pro. DISPLAY INTEGRITY / COLOR The contrast ratio on this monitor is decent, 1300:1, but not that high compared to my 16-inch Macbook Pro screen, which supports 1,000,000:1 for XDR content. These aren't docking points, but it's an important feature to look out for if you plan to use it as the primary display for commercial visual creative work. Not as bright as I would like, the brightness is 350 nits compared to my MacBook display which has 500 nits of brightness. Something to keep in mind depending on the ambient light conditions of your work environment. Color accuracy is rated at Delta E < 3, meaning color differences are visible at a glance. For professional creative work where color accuracy is required, it is better to choose a monitor with a Delta-E < 2 or lower. BUILD QUALITY - Sturdy stand that is very easy to install; I was up and running within minutes of receiving the monitor. Compared to the stand of one of my other monitors (LG 32QN600), this monitor does not wobble and is very stable on my desk. The height can be adjusted steplessly and safely, I like this function. I have noticed that the corners of this screen are peeling off for some reason (see attached images). When I unpacked the monitor, there was a sticker that said "DO NOT RIP. This is normal for your monitor" which strikes me as odd. I can't say I've ever had a monitor in the past that says adhesive peeling in the corners is normal. At the moment this hasn't proven to be the case Proven problem as it is on the black border of the screen although will see if it gets worse over time PRICE Frankly this is a decent price for such a quality monitor It is a good everyday monitor for occasional creative work , although I wouldn't rely on it as a primary display for serious visual work Use it as a primary display for any serious visual creative work like commercial photography or video editing where you need to rely on a higher quality display and better color accuracy
