I've been using the Asus PQ321Q 31.5" 4K Display with various Macs since 2014. Back then, the picture quality was better than anything I've used and I was very happy with this monitor. It had its quirks, including a complicated user interface, but the picture made up for it, and once set up I was rarely confused.Various OS updates caused problems when resuming from hibernation and required sudden turning on and off.It got more and more annoying as time went on, but eventually did I always managed to get the monitor working again. Then came MacOS 10.15.4 and the monitor just didn't work. This is definitely an Apple software bug but after a few days of hard fighting I gave up and decided to go with a Thunderbolt Display. Due to the relatively positive experience with ASUS and the forced upgrade option, I chose the Asus ProArt. The PA32UC 32" . It was comparable in size but had significantly better performance. Thanks to Revain, it arrived shortly after ordering. My first impression of this monitor was that it was due to its HDR capabilities, wide color gamut, and multiple inputs, connectors. But the backlight corners were noticeably worse than I remembered on the PQ321Q. Without a direct comparison I was not sure, but it was definitely worse. And given that this device advertises its deep blacks, I was immediately disappointed. I could live with that, but worse when I first picked up the white screen and saw it I immediately saw a series of black dots around the display. As I scrolled the white box on the screen, I fought the urge to dust the screen off, but I couldn't. The next day it was back to Revain. The options available in this display class are pretty limited. Another device I weighed in was a 32" BenQ PD3220U. On paper it's a smaller display, of course in terms on the color space. But I needed a display and it seemed like it could work, so I gave it a try. To my great delight, this performance was amazing. As a Mac user, this seems to have been made by Apple for your Mac. Plug it into a Thunderbolt port and it just works. There is a color setting for you. You can adjust all settings with free software. The display looks good and without artefacts. The stand is solid and feels solid, and the bezel has a sleek feel. I really love this monitor, and every time I wake my Mac from sleep and the display lights up like it's glad to see you, I appreciate it even more. I never use the washer that comes with it, but I see it might be useful for some. The speakers are terrible, but hey, they pack speakers good enough to alert you to system noise when audio out is selected for monitor output.
