Not suitable for flat pedals, regardless of the product description.

I ride flat pedals and have risked trying them, but they don't do the most basic job of $100 bike shoes: keeping my foot on the pedals. Even when using forked pedals like Shimano and Crank Bros, my feet slipped like I was wearing classic leather-soled shoes. The sole is not rubbery enough for the pedal pins to catch on. The soles are really just some kind of slippery hard plastic that is somehow completely unsuitable for shoes with flat pedals. Any plain sneakers or sneakers will hold the foot better. These "sandals" also fail in their second most important role: being sandals. You can't tell from the pictures but when you wear them the entire top and sides of your foot are covered in hot black fabric and the only ventilation is a couple of small slits at the bottom. These shoes are very hot and in that respect they are not at all like sandals. In them you will not feel a pleasant breeze around your feet. Also, they are heavy. About a pound each. Any pedaling efficiency or extra wattage you might hope for from a good hard sole is offset by the shoe's weight. Also, they don't really fit well. I'm a US size 9.5 so I ordered the correct size 43-44. (probably from 9 to 10.5). They are wide enough for my normal width feet to slide in, even when the straps are tight. They are made for people with very thick legs. All of these factors, plus the fact that other users have seen the shoe fall apart easily, should be enough to convince you to spend your $100 elsewhere.

Pros
  • Lots of positive vibes
Cons
  • No performance
