SOLUTION UPDATE: Definitely NOT for bikes with rear disc brakes.

I'm an experienced mountain bike rider and builder. Even the dining room in my apartment is a bike shop with a professional bike rack where I would put a dining table if I had one. Tools galore etc. I bought this rack to put on my exercise bike so I can mount my bag and carry groceries but the left down tube which mounts next to the rear disc brake caliper is so close to the Brake cable bracket on this caliper that when tightening the shock absorber breaks the brake cable attachment point. I tried flexing the strut a bit on this side, which will void my warranty within an hour of delivery, but that doesn't matter as the strut still has to be bolted tightly to the frame on that side, causing the brake to break. Brake caliper assembly. Therefore, this luggage rack does not fit bikes with disc brakes. It's a shame because it's a good device. UPDATE ------------- I went to Home Depot and bought a longer metric bolt for the caliper side mount. The screw that matches the threads of the short screws in the rack kit is M5-0.8 x 30mm. This is a Phillips head screw that fits snugly. You need a few small washers to act as a giant spacer. Washing machine size #10, 12 per pack and purchase of two bags. I used about 16 washers to get the perfect spacing and used a BLUE elbow on the threads of the long bolt. The shelf is now installed and it's great. My solution costs $3. If the rack salesman had added the add-on I just wrote, it would have been a lifesaver for a group of guys who use disc brakes. Shims provide a more precise fit, but small diameter steel tubing will work if it's the right length. Shims work better.
