Review on 🌡️ Cooper-Atkins Stainless Steel Bi-Metal Oven Thermometer, Temperature Range 100°F to 600°F by Tim Paolucci

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Everyone should have an oven thermometer!

It is very important to have a properly calibrated oven. Only thing is there is no way to calibrate mine. When I moved into my new home, I quickly found that my oven wasn't cooking at the right temperature. I bake a lot so it was very obvious. It turns out that the oven heats up to 25°F. One thing I know about electric stoves is that they don't stay hot consistently throughout the baking cycle. (It can vary up to 50°). For example, preheat your oven to 350°F. Once hot, turn off the pan, set the timer and you're good to go. As the oven cools slightly during the cycle, it may drop to 300°F before the heating element turns on again. This can have a HUGE impact on what you cook or bake. What also has a big impact is the above scenario combined with: Suppose you need to set your oven to 425°F, but it actually only heats up to 375°. This means that before using the thermometer, the oven will shut down all the way to 325°F before heating up again. This is a far cry from the desired temperature of 425°. I only use a thermometer to set up my oven. I have to set mine to 325°F if I want to bake something at 350° - AND THIS IS A BRAND NEW OVEN! That is why it is so important that the oven is correctly set to the desired temperature. I can't imagine. Do not use any of these regardless of the age of your oven Disclaimer: This product was a PERSONAL PURCHASE to me at regular retail price.
