Review on Bosch D3324 Distance Plus High Performance Oil Filter: Unleashing Optimal Engine Efficiency in a Single Pack by Mark Cannon

Great filter: Oil filter

I love this oil filter. My car actually needs to use the smaller Bosch 3402 which is about an inch shorter but there is more than enough room to use the 3500 instead. The extra filtration and oil volume allows me to change the oil a bit longer, so it really pays off. Of all the filters I've tried with my standard size (Mopar, Wix, Mobil-1, K&N), the Bosch filters worked the best, and this D3500 even better. Just FYI, from what I've heard and what I can tell from the photos, Purolator makes Bosch oil filters these days (there's really only a handful of oil filter manufacturers). "Bosch Distance Plus" filters are essentially a rebranded Purolator ONE filter with no external color. Likewise, "Bosch Long Life" filters are renamed "Purolator Synthetic" and standard "Bosch Premium" filters are renamed "Purolator Classic", but with a silicone check valve. There may be some other minor design differences, but in all respects you can expect Bosch and Purolator oil filters to perform the same.

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Almost never
