I bought them to sharpen garden shears and scissors. They get into hard-to-reach places better than anything I have. They work best for tools that you keep sharp enough. If the tool you're sharpening is really deformed, you're going to tinker with it for a while because it doesn't have a very good hardness. However, DMT sharpeners will last you for years. When sharpening something very dull, don't press too hard and let the abrasive do all the work. Diamond sharpeners last almost forever if not abused.
