I bought this stand for my 16" MacBook and it works really well. It's light weight and does exactly what it's supposed to. That's why I chose this stand was for its light weight and portability.First there are the lips that hold the bottom of the laptop.They don't protrude like many other stands I've seen.There is a thin silicon pad if needed but it has to be on top care must be taken not to scratch the computer when you put it back in. Another reason for choosing a stand is that laptops get very hot with continuous use.The stand helps free up space under the laptop to allow air to circulate When unfolded, there is a hole for heat dissipation, so if like me you use your computer while it's on a couch, bed or a cushion, trapped heat shortens battery life and slows down your computer's performance. Not exactly space grey, but close enough to complement the MacBook that houses it. I am happy with this purchase and glad it does what it was designed to do.
