After being in a cast for a while, I learned to walk without using my ankle much. The same principle is required when using this orthogonal wedge: you should practically not use your ankle, lift your foot and place it on your heel. This relieves the forefoot. In normal walking, the shoes roll toward the toes, which transfers some of the weight and pressure to the toes. As for the negative reviews that people complained about problems with them, I can only recommend: remember that these are not ordinary shoes and you cannot walk in them as usual. Adjust your walking so that your ankle moves less and you find that there is minimal stress on your toes. As I wore a cast I would recommend this product any day of the week and on holidays. Second, I wear size 14 men's shoes. X-Large is designed for sizes 12.5 to 14 and fits perfectly.
