Work as described, but you may not be able to walk in it as usual.

After being in a cast for a while, I learned to walk without using my ankle much. The same principle is required when using this orthogonal wedge: you should practically not use your ankle, lift your foot and place it on your heel. This relieves the forefoot. In normal walking, the shoes roll toward the toes, which transfers some of the weight and pressure to the toes. Bad design, not much help to relieve the leg sore.

I bought this model with a cut out to take pressure off my toes/ball of foot and previously also bought a heel wedge. Both are hard solid rubbery material. Both have a very relaxed fit around the heel. If you are wearing a LARGE bulky bandage, you can tighten the Velcro just enough to allow the shoe to fit snugly around your foot. Excellent product

In 2012 I had surgery on both my legs. I am diabetic and had a dead big toe on my right foot and an open ulcer on my left foot since 2004. I'm dying of a progressive infection in my toe. After the operation, I was fitted with not one, but two Ortho Healing Wedges. It took me a while to get used to it, but I was soon able to pull off this balancing act.
