It seems that Intel and others surprised the Linux and FreeBSD community with an 11th Gen integrated GPU and 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet chips. Therefore, these operating systems only partially support these chipsets. This is an issue with all new motherboards that support 11th Gen Intel processors with integrated graphics, as well as new 2.5GB Ethernet chipsets from Intel or Realtek. (The new Intel i119 1Gigabit Ethernet chip is also not yet widely supported.) Due to the lack of proper software drivers, the operating system relies on the BIOS/EFI to correctly detect the screen size and inform the operating system. The BIOS on this board tells the operating system that all monitors are 800x600. So some Linux and FreeBSD distros look like we're in 1995. (I've used a lot of ASRock motherboards over the last few years and always found their BiOS/EFI serviceable, but they were missing some pretty obvious things, like that Boot menu not showing correctly on screen.) I had to install an additional ethernet board to be able to download Fedora 34 and then upgrade to the built-in ethernet driver version. All in all - the board is fine, but if you're thinking of Linux or FreeBSD, I'd advise waiting maybe until the end of 2021 for the shock of Intel's 11th gen CPU graphics and Intel and Realtek 2.5 Ethernet chipsets has decayed. When I contacted ASRock tech support I was fired and told they only support Windows.
