This GYGPSV5-NEO is for the Pixhawk APM drone autopilot except I use mine with the Elegoo Mega2560. This device has two built-in devices. Honeywell HMC5983 compass with magnetic compensation. Compass output is I2C, on 0x1E Arduino is compatible with HMC5883L_Simple Compass.h and also has Swiss uBlox-NEO-M8N-0-10 on TX-RX that works with U-Blox NEO M8N GPS parser that can be found on the Arduino forum, Ublox .hour . Two devices in one. The block is all 3 volts so I ran mine through the level switch from 5 to 3 and found that timing was absolutely critical. On my Mega the compass needs to be read while serial number 1 is not available and a 10 millisecond delay after M8_Gps.encode was required. This GPS has a lot of settings, so I downloaded uBlox's U-Center and used a 3V TTL USB serial adapter to put the device in walk mode. The default is 9600 baud, which is great for me. You can set WAAS mode which can make it more accurate. With the included indoor antenna, mine usually picks up 19 satellites and uses 12, but it takes a while, a few minutes, for this to happen on first launch. Apparently that's because the N version is a bit slower than the P version. The star is usually removed due to a lack of documentation, but since this one is sold on autopilot. 5 Stars.
