Review on PolyMax 3D Printing Filament by Polymaker: Advanced Power for Optimal Prints by Jose Brunson

2 rolls good, 2 rolls bad

**Updated September 2021** Terrible and unreliable. The two replacement spools were just as bad as the two I returned. One managed to jam my printer so badly that it is now out of alignment (I got stuck on a bell while printing and 10 minutes was enough to damage my printer). I have no idea what's going on at Polymaker, but buyers beware. This filament is low quality and can damage the printer.**Previous Review**The first two rolls of black PLA were fantastic. Good adhesion, no buckling, clean prints. The finish is less glossy than other PLAs I've used and I liked them. I was able to print 28 copies of my project in a row without any problems. Each piece takes about 3 hours, so the printer worked continuously for several days. I have ordered two more rolls. Unfortunately they were terrible. Both reels are badly wound. The filament gets caught when trying to print. At best, I got a half print and a ball of extruded fluff. I also had a spool of thread that was sticking so badly that the thread broke. In the worst case, the entire printer failed, which was not easy to fix. So far I've only been able to print one successful print from two spools. Every few minutes I have to unwind the spool a few meters and carefully wind the line back onto the spool. Very disappointing. I switched to Polymaker after a bad experience with another cheaper brand. I hoped for the best. However, my initial results were good enough that I will attempt to return/exchange the coils that failed. Let's see if this was a rare occurrence or a regular problem.

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
