Review on Linksys USB 3.0 Ethernet Adapter for MacBook Air, Chromebook, Ultrabook (USB3GIG), Black by Erik Wesley

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Crappy driver - expected better from LinkSys

Be careful if you have a MacBook with High Sierra. Crappy drivers from Linksys, both on CD and on the website. that does not work. At least they are not for me. What they REALLY did was turn off my bluetooth (not available) and wifi (hardware not installed, bug) and the stupid thing didn't even get an ethernet connection. I almost tore my hair out trying to figure out what went wrong and why I was suddenly having hardware problems. Of course, there was no uninstall, and I couldn't even find where the drivers were installed (no, not in the spotlight, there are no cores in the extension, nothing in the library. Nada.) Dear souls on the Internet (not Linksys) hit assumes that the chipsets in the adapters will work with Realtek drivers. So I downloaded and installed the driver from: realtek.com/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=13&PFid=56&Level=5&Conn=4&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false The Mac option is the last one at the bottom. Restored Wi-Fi and network adapters. Ethernet appeared in the network settings. The speed on the real device seems normal, but I'm still too mad to be impressed. One star for the trouble these stupid drivers caused and -10 for how lazy Linksys was not even bothering to do anything about it.

Pros
