Review on ๐Ÿ’พ Seagate 2TB BarraCuda SATA 6Gb/s 128MB Cache 2.5-Inch 7mm Internal Hard Drive by Micha Dobrzyski แ Œ

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Iยณ'm satisfied with the product, itยณ's well made and the price is also satisfying.

Before that there was a WD Black WD7500BPKX, 750GB. It stood as a second drive in the MacBook Pro 15 2022 mid (not retina) instead of a DVD drive. There was no longer enough space, I began to look closely at the disks > 2TB. Unfortunately, there is basically nothing to choose from, disks of this size and up to 10mm high (for laptops) are produced only by Seagate. I would gladly take WD, but they have disks as high as 15mm, they wonโ€™t fit into laptops :( As a result, I settled on ST2022LM015 as the newest model. is not needed, and it is better to take a regular SSD for the system. In general, ST2022LM015 turned out to be quite good, I checked the surface three times, there are no errors. Speed โ€‹โ€‹+/- like WD. Didn't like the noise. If the WD was completely inaudible, then this one clicks like a cricket. At night it is audible at a distance of 3m, but does not interfere with sleep. During the day it is also audible, but not particularly annoying. Googling has shown that this is a feature of many Seagate screws - this is how the mechanics work. The first three days (while the OS files were being indexed) were very noisy. Then it calmed down :) One more moment. Usually 2.5" drives are 9.5mm high, while Seagate has 7mm. Either because of this or not, it heats up more. load over 3 hours ST2022LM015 warms up to 45-46 degrees Maximum temperature 60 degrees Generally not critical, out of 9 screws of different models from 40GB to 3TB none have died yet, they are usually replaced due to lack of space. If it breaks, I'll replace it with the same one.

Pros
  • Large volume, low price
Cons
  • Noisy, higher temperature
