I contacted the seller with this information: Battery life (4 AA batteries) is acceptable at 90 days. Not great, acceptable. In the second lock I have been using the fourth set of AA batteries since August 2019. About 21 days before the device fails and the door can only be opened from the outside with a key. I asked to replace the "defective" device. and the first attempt was a $15 loan. The second attempt tricked me into writing a positive review about how the defective device was handled, and the seller increased the credit to $25. I'll try again when I swap. broken device. If that rating changes to an outstanding rating, you'll know what happened on my third try. Two strange behaviors: 1) Factory reset by pressing the reset hole with a paperclip does NOT respond with a beep (unknown if actually reset) 2) I've tried multiple attempts/combinations of HOLD 8 and pressing LOCK and NEVER received a beep indicating the device is ready to accept a new code. Solution: Don't wait, listen or wait, wait for a beep after HOLD 8 and press the LOCK sequence to enter programming mode. SIMPLE, hold 8, press LOCK, enter the default value, 1234, LOCK, then the NEW code 8899, LOCK, 8899 and LOCK and you're done. Yes!
