Review on ๐Ÿ”ง Ingersoll Rand 3101G Angle Grinder: Enhancing Precision and Performance by Jerimiah Augustine

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Ingersoll makes the finest air tools.

I am currently an Ingersoll fan. EVERY air tool I have from them is superior to any competing brand. EVERY TOOL. Any bit with a shank suitable for this tool will do. I use it primarily as a surface cleaner with grinding wheels, but another popular application is with cut-off wheels. I've used other popular air tilt tools and NONE OF THEM have THAT much power. 90 psi and this little tool SHOUTS. If you have ever used an electric dremel at high speeds it is louder and higher pitched so I would recommend hearing protection. But with grinding wheels and cut-off wheels you clean and cut faster than others. I cut 2-3 inches in 2 minutes with cut-off wheels. The only two downsides are wheel speeds and speed control. With the power and speed at which the tool spins, you'll get through cut-off wheels and sanding discs faster than other brands. Grinding wheels I go through 1 after cleaning 6 cylinder heads while other brands do 8-10. Cut-off washers I use 1 every 2 2.5" exhausts. I already mentioned cruise control; I might as well not have it because it's either full throttle or a poorly tuned carburetor idle. I mean the air control pin you grip with your hand is very stiff. Even with lube it's hard. It is very difficult to get a medium speed. I could spend 5 minutes adjusting to my preferred RPM. Disadvantages aside, the pros far outweigh the cost and the cost of 60 is a lot cheaper than most 4/5 of a thousand

Pros
  • APPLICATION: Use as a handheld power tool for grinding, drilling, polishing, deburring and ripping welds. The angled shape works best in tight and hard-to-reach places.
Cons
  • Unbelievable price
