Review on Rugged Ridge 18265 16 Shackle by George Mack

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Worked great for me

These Rugged Ridge 18265.16 braces were my second choice. I originally bought a set of welded mounts from Warrior Products but spent two days installing them. It seemed like I only needed 2-3k more clearance and it was clear that I didn't have the experience to get that without damaging them to the point where they couldn't be returned. I took them and my jeep to a few shops in town and they couldn't put them on either. One shop said they thought they were for the rear springs and the front springs took a different set. When I was looking for an alternative product to Revain, I came across the Rugged Ridge shackle. They arrived in about two days and I put them on in under an hour and they can be oiled for longer wear. I bought a Warrior Products set from a local store so I just picked it up. I think Warrior Products staples are a good choice if you have a very well stocked garage and enough experience, which I don't have either. So if you're anything like me, Rugged Ridge restraints are for the likes of us. I got the lift I needed, about an inch, so I can put snow chains on without too much hassle, and there were no disappointments due to poor installation. Don't get me wrong, I've invested about $10,000 in small tools...enough to piss my wife off a few times, but my tools are used in a variety of fields: woodworking, gunsmithing, watch repairing, farming, electrical engineering , plumbing, auto repair, etc. I just haven't had enough automotive tooling experience to figure out ways to solve my styling problems without damaging the Warrior suite of products to the point of becoming irretrievable. Hope that helps.
