Not protected from water. My child stood up and splashed in puddles the entire time we were outside. The rain was light to moderate, not heavy at all. My child was zipped up, wrists sealed with waterproof mittens, ankles securely fastened in rubber boots with velcro. His top stayed dry. His feet were dry. His hands were starting to dry out. His legs as you can see in the picture. Didn't stay dry. He's in diapers, so I can guarantee he's not peeing. I'm not sure what went wrong but I can say I'm disappointed with this product. I was happy to use it for a few years because it's REALLY big. My child is now a 2T, last summer I bought the 18 month size and this year it's still wrinkling around his ankles. finely cleaned. So I really want this to withstand a typical rainy day. My child is 2 feet 9 inches and about 25 pounds.
