My ISP programmer on the STK500 development board has stopped working. When I connected this device to my Windows Vista computer, it recognized the USB driver in the studio4 software and listed it in Device Manager as AVRISP mkII. This device connects to the stk500 board and works as a programmer with the studio4 software. It also programs standalone externally powered devices. If the programmer is wired incorrectly, the red LED on the device lights up. When it touches the chip, it turns green. I have programmed the ATmega328/p and the ATmega1284p and they have worked well so far.
