Works great with Atmel Studio 7.0

Works with Atmel Studio 7.0. Passed the tool upgrade from 1.0 to 1.18 with no issues. Come with 6-10 pin cable and other cables. Only ATtiny85 has been programmed so far, but there's no reason to think it won't work for Megas.

Pros
  • Upgradable to support future devices Adjustable ISP programming speed up to 8MB frequency
Cons
  • No insurance

Works as an exact replacement for the original (obsolete) Atmel AvrIsp MKII .I am using this with the Atmel STK500 command line programming tool for production programming of the ATMega bootloader sector. Tried the Olimex brand before, which didn't work (wrong pinout, if you don't add an adapter from 10 to 6 pins, probably problems with the drivers). This WaveShare dongle not only LOOKS like an AVRISP MKII, it ACTIONS too. There are no changes to the cable assignment or the driver. I can easily

Pros
  • Supports all AVR devices with ISP or PDI interface and some 51 devices Programs both Flash and EEPROM
Cons
  • May damage

100% MkII compatible, works great with AS7 out of the box, comes with all cables imaginable. This programmer is 100% compatible with the original MkII - so much so that the AS7 offers automatic firmware updates per connection. It supports "Read Target Voltage" function, which can save much time in programming troubleshooting. If you check the voltage and it doesn't meet your expectations, you'll know right away that you need to check the connection and the target power supply. Also supports TPI

Pros
  • Supports AVR Studio 4/5/6 or later (supplied with firmware for AVR Studio 5, can be upgraded to other versions of AVR Studio support )
Cons
  • Long delivery time

NOT for JTAG programming

If your target device requires programming using the JTAG standard, this device is not for you. I should be in the minority as everyone else uses the provider interface and has no problem with that. I recently ordered another promising AVR programmer - see here https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07MXRYWD9.

Pros
  • Supports fuse and lock bit programming based on AT AVRISP mkII firmware
Cons
  • Legacy model

works with AVR Studio4

My ISP programmer on the STK500 development board has stopped working. When I connected this device to my Windows Vista computer, it recognized the USB driver in the studio4 software and listed it in Device Manager as AVRISP mkII. This device connects to the stk500 board and works as a programmer with the studio4 software. It also programs standalone externally powered devices. If the programmer is wired incorrectly, the red LED on the device lights up. When it touches the chip, it turns green.

Pros
  • Supports all AVR ISP or PDI devices and about 51 devices Programs both Flash and EEPROM
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than other options

Works as an exact replacement for the original) Atmel AvrIsp MKII . I am using this with the Atmel STK500 command line programming tool for production programming of the ATMega bootloader sector. Previously tried the Olimex brand which didn't work (wrong cable pinout if no 10-6 pin adapter is added, probably driver issues) and) This WaveShare dongle not only LOOKS like an AVRISP MKII, it ACTS like one. There are no changes to the cable pinout or the driver at all. I can easily switch theโ€ฆ

Pros
  • USB 2.0 compatible (full speed, 12Mbps) 3 extra cables for target board USB bus powered, no external power required
Cons
  • Damaged
