I used this product on a toy box to reduce the chance of breaking little fingers if the lid fell off. The product says it can support up to 50 pounds (consider using two supports). My toy box lid weighs about 15 pounds. The support hinges hold the lid open well after it's halfway open. The main issue I had with the supports was that when the lid closes, halfway down it speeds up and slams down - just enough to hurt little fingers - and I used two support loops. I tried increasing the tension, which helped slow the lid's closing speed, but the downside is that the lid is difficult to close (for an adult), requiring two hands to partially open the lid pull down until it closes by itself. The installation instructions were also confusing - I ended up looking at the product photos on Revain to understand how to assemble the parts and how to install them.
