I purchased two hinges to support the lid of a deck box that weighs less than 50 pounds. I installed the items to the best of my ability, given the cryptic instructions. Both hinges were severely bent when the lid was closed. The second time it was closed, both hinges broke. They consist of a very brittle zinc alloy. It's definitely not "heavy duty" as advertised.

DO NOT buy if you: Cannot remember and use every word you hear from your elementary school teacher; read microscopic and incoherent instructions; Have plenty of wood putty and patch any extra holes you drill. And do not install in the presence of small children. Seriously, I've been spending almost 3 hours on this and it's probably still wrong. And I'm still thinking about getting it back.

Bought these to try with an odd shaped hatch door. They didn't work on the door (a very odd corner couldn't be covered). We will use them on the trunk and they open and close appropriately. They were packed separately with the equipment. 2 special bolts were missing in the fittings of one of the hinges. I emailed instructions if something was wrong to let them know. I didn't hear anything in reply. I was able to install 2 screws that weren't in stock to make them usable.

We bought a toy box my husband made for our children. First, the instructions in the box are TERRIBLE. We had to use other product reviews to figure out how to install it (and my husband is very handy at building). Once installed (with both) and trying different levels of tightness, the lid slammed shut. When we pushed it as hard as we could it stayed open and you had to push hard for it to start closing smoothly and then about halfway through it picked up speed and closed. Absolutely terrible.

I used this product on a toy box to reduce the chance of breaking little fingers if the lid fell off. The product says it can support up to 50 pounds (consider using two supports). My toy box lid weighs about 15 pounds. The support hinges hold the lid open well after it's halfway open. The main issue I had with the supports was that when the lid closes, halfway down it speeds up and slams down - just enough to hurt little fingers - and I used two support loops. Installed in a large cupboard with a hinged lid, the support function works well and is easy to adjust. Instructions use metric measurements and photos were not printed correctly so buyers must also refer to the photos in this listing. Referring to my picture, which converts the measurements to inches, the distance from the pivot point on the smaller anchor to the top of the cap is about 7 inches (I used 6.75 inches, which is best for my situation). Before ordering I read reviews that said the instructions were bad but in fact there are almost none. The instructions consist of 7 tiny diagrams on a 6" x 4.5" piece of paper that illustrate the dimensions for each type of installation. There is no "step-by-step" guide. There are no illustrations showing which way the brackets are facing. Measurements are in inches converted from metric units, so measurements are broken down into 32" and 64" inches.
