Don't waste your time and money

Before ordering I read reviews that said the instructions were bad but in fact there are almost none. The instructions consist of 7 tiny diagrams on a 6" x 4.5" piece of paper that illustrate the dimensions for each type of installation. There is no "step-by-step" guide. There are no illustrations showing which way the brackets are facing. Measurements are in inches converted from metric units, so measurements are broken down into 32" and 64" inches. It would be easier if they stored them in metric numbers. After carefully measuring the placement of the brackets before drilling the holes, I found that the position of the screws is spaced farther apart than the span of the support arms! I posted the instructions and used the product photos as a guide to determine their placement. After installation I had to adjust the brace to the tightest position. Now it's quite difficult to start closing and then it still pops slightly when the lid is about 4 inches from closing. This is not at all what I expected. If I hadn't already drilled the holes for the first bracket on my newly restored chest I would have sent it back. I do not recommend this product. In addition to the terrible instructions, the metal is flimsy and in fact one of the hinges was slightly bent and I flipped it back slightly. The bottom bracket has three bolt holes, but they only provide 2 bolts. I had to add a third screw as the bracket moved slightly when the lid was closed. Over time, this would quickly loosen with just two screws. Spend a little more and get a better product.
