Review on 12-24V Car And Marine Power Socket With Dual USB Charger And Digital Display Voltmeter - IZTOR For Better Efficiency by Eric Chapman

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Thin wire, and very deep sockets.

I've installed a lot of 12v car sockets / 12v to USB / 12v Anderson Power Pole connectors, and I've ordered car sockets many times.I got this installed in my camping trailer and plugged in my car socket tester (has a volt gauge) and the tester didn't register any power. Shocked, I checked all of the connections and tried again. Still no joy. Finally I got out my multi-meter, and there is power in the socket - the socket is just so deep that my tester couldn't make contact at the back.I gather a random assortment of devices, and only found 2 that were long enough to charge. None of my usb adapters were long enough. In fact, the diameter of the hole is slightly larger than normal, and some of my Anker USB adapters didn't even make contact on the side.Unless you need this specific surface mount style, look elsewhere. If you do need this style, you may want to consider buy different outlets to replace those included. Also, while I didn't remove a star for this, I wanted to warn people about the tiny wires included. It comes with 16 AWG wire. 16 AWG is only good for distances of 2-4 feet for a single socket, and I'd never use 16 AWG for a double socket. Throw away the wires and use 12 AWG minimum (unless you are within feet of the battery). I use 10 AWG for just about everything - just to be safe. Using a heavier wire is especially important because this is a double outlet, so more current is needed to support both wires.
